Life in Morgantown



Morgantown, West Virginia is home to the State?s first Land Grant University. The University serves students training in a large and diverse number of professions, including engineering, medicine, law, business, creative arts and much more. There are three campuses for WVU within Morgantown, all of which are linked by the personal rapid transit system. Athletic programs at WVU enable students to attend football, basketball, hockey, baseball and a number of other sports. WVU also boasts a new 177,000 square foot recreational center housing two swimming pools, an indoor track, a 50 foot climbing wall, 17,000 square feet of weight and fitness equipment, basketball, volleyball squash and racquetball courts, as well as an outdoor recreation center. The city of Morgantown is located in north central West Virginia, and is surrounded by the Monongahela River and Decker?s Creek. The city is geared for outdoor activities, including rock climbing, biking, kayaking, canoeing, as well as seasonal activities. Morgantown is less than 250 miles of a number of larger cities (Baltimore, Charleston, Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Washington, D.C.). Finally, downtown Morgantown boasts private shops, restaurants and clubs within walking distance of the Downtown campus and personal rapid transit system.
