On April 13, 2004, the Department of Chemistry became the C. Eugene Bennett Department of Chemistry in appreciation of the generous contributions of C. Eugene Bennett and his wife Edna Bennett Pierce. The ceremony featured presentations by WVU President David Hardesty, Provost Gerald Lang, Dean Duane Nellis, Eberly Chaired Professor Kenneth Showalter, and Department Chair Harry Finklea. Also present were members of the extended Bennett Family.
