Morgantown is located at the junction of Interstate 79 and 68. It is about 75 miles south of Pittsburgh in the northern part of West Virginia. Driving time to Pittsburgh and the Pittsburgh Airport is slightly more than an hour. Washington, DC and Baltimore are about four hours away by car.
WVU has three campuses in Morgantown, the downtown campus, the Evansdale campus, and the Ruby Memorial Hospital/Health Sciences complex. Chemistry is located in the downtown campus. Downtown Morgantown with numerous shops, restaurants, banks, etc., is a short walk from the Department.
Abundant recreational opportunities are within a few hours drive. Close to Morgantown is Cheat Lake and Coopers Rock State Park. West Virginia is home to the best white water rafting in the eastern US.
